We are currently in production on a new feature documentary, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wing? This film explores the life of Virginia Wing, a Chinese American actress from Marks, Mississippi, who continues working well into her 80s. From the Jim Crow South to a decades-long battle against stereotyping in media, Virginia’s journey reveals the lasting impact of racial and gender biases while challenging the perception of Asian Americans as “perpetual foreigners.” Her family’s story also reflects the deep-rooted presence of Chinese Americans in U.S. history. Far East Deep South

Learn more about our award-winning and critically acclaimed film, Far East Deep South, a 76-minute documentary about a Chinese American family’s search for their roots that leads to the Mississippi Delta. They uncover the history they never knew about Chinese families in the American South during Jim Crow and the Chinese Exclusion Act. The film offers an enlightening view on race, immigration and American identity.
The film made its broadcast debut on America Reframed (PBS/World Channel) in May 2021 and won a 2022 Telly Award. It is now streaming on multiple platforms including Kanopy, Tubi and Prime Video.
