Award-winning filmmakers and Giant Flashlight Media co-founders Baldwin Chiu and Larissa Lam joined a distinguished panel of industry creators at Comic-Con International in San Diego on July 26, 2026 for “The Power of Color: The Discussion Continues.”

Against an evolving entertainment landscape where representation in comics and pop culture remains at the forefront—from major superhero blockbusters to adaptations like The Odyssey—the panel examined whether the media industry is truly embracing original material from independent creators or continuing to rely on race swapping as a primary method for driving diversity, equity, and inclusion.
